Admission to B.Tech programmes
IIST isAsia’s first space university and the only one in the world to offercourses from undergraduate to doctoral level in space science andtechnology. The students passing out of IIST with minimum specifiedacademic performance will be absorbed in ISRO as scientists/engineers.An assistanceship package is offered by department of space for all theB.Tech students to cover the complete cost of education, boarding andlodging.
Admission to the B.Tech programmes in Aerospaceengineering, Avionics and Physical sciences in IIST, Thiruvananthapuramis through the IIST admission test (ISAT – 2010). The test consists oftwo question papers of objective type, each of two hours durationhaving questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Results of ISAT – 2010 will be available by May 2010
Date of test: Friday, 16th April, 2010
Date of birth: General, OBC category candidatesshould be born on or after October 1st, 1985 and others (SC/ST personswith physical disability) should be born on or after October 1st, 1980
Qualifying-examination – class XII:Candidate must have passed XII standard or any equivalent examinationfor the first time in the calendar year 2009 or 2010, provided theresults are available before 1st July 2010
Minimum percentage of marks – class X exam:Candidates belonging to general and OBC categories must have at least70% in all subjects combined and those belonging to SC, ST and PDcategories must have at least 60%
Minimum percentage of marks – class XII exam:Candidates belonging to general and OBC categories must have at least70% in aggregate in physics, chemistry and mathematics (PCM) papers andthose belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must have at least 60%
Application fee: Rs. 500/- for male candidates in general and OBC categories, Rs. 250/- for SC/ST/PD and all female candidates
Paymentshould be in the form of a demand draft drawn on any nationalized bankin favour of ‘the Registrar, IIST’ payable at Thiruvananthapuram
Reservation of seats: Reservation of seats for B.Tech programmes is as per govt. of India rules
Examination centres: ISAT-2010 will be conducted in about thirty cities, spread all over India
Theapplication process involves (i) online registration for obtainingpassword (ii) submission of online application with complete details ofdemand draft and all other information (iii) printing and sending admitcard, application form and demand draft by post to the address givenbelow
