The next examination after IITJEE which we will discuss and which holds the record of maximum number of candidates (approx 8 lacs in 2009) is AIEEE(All India Engineering Entrance Examination) . Before 2001, every state use to conduct examination for their respective Regional Engineering Colleges. But the union HRD ministry in an attempt to improve the quality of technical education in India came out with their ambitious project of centralization of all RECs and their entrance examination. This is one of the most ambitious projects in last two decades in the education sector. This was done in two steps:
• Upgradation of all RECs to NITs(National Institute of Technology)
• Centralization of examination for admission in NITs.
This laid the path to admissions in 20 NITs, 7 Deemed university and other engineering colleges of national repute. This actually saved the students in appearing in various examination, and gave parents a monetary relief as well . Kudos to Mr Murli Manohar Joshi, the then Union HRD Minister.

• What is the basis of admission?
The basis of admission to AIEEE engineering entrance is All India Rank. The better the performance, better the rank .
• Selection process
The selection process to the AIEEE engineering entrance exam consists of a All India Examination and a counseling process for the qualified students. This year examination would be conducted in single sittings. The paper consists of equal no of questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. As per the last year question paper, each subject contains 24 question of 4 marks and 6 questions of 8 marks each. AIEEE has changed its pattern considerably in last 5 years. Thus, the students should be mentally prepared to get a different pattern.

The AIEEE could come up with any pattern. Cricket is a game full of uncertainty, this holds true for this entrance as well. But at the end of the day only the best people will be selected.
• COUNSELLING :
The selected students in the AIEEE are asked to attend the counseling in two rounds .
I. Round I: Online off campus – The students are required to fill the seats of their choice online.
II. Round II: Online On campus – As per their rank students have to attend the oncampus to freeze the seats of their choice. This is a very important step and many students make mistakes in this round. We will discuss more on counseling after the examination.
• SPEED AND ACCURACY
The questions asked in AIEEE engineering entrance exam are comparatively easier than the IITJEE. In this context speed and accuracy hold the key for success. For example the tangents at points (t1) and (t2) to the parabola y2 = 4ax meet at the point (a t1t2,a( t1+t2)) . You could easily calculate these points by solving the equations of the tangents, but its nothing wrong if you remember the direct results.
I guess most of u must be engaged in revising.
Happy Revising
